What’s better than a diy Halloween sign?! A CHEAP diy Halloween sign!! I have lots of Halloween DIY’s here on the blog… but this might just be a brand new fave.

supplies needed to make a cheap diy halloween sign

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • Pallet sign from Dollar General
  • Apple Barrel paints (white, black, harvest orange)
  • Anita’s acrylic craft paint (spring green)
  • Sanding block
start by painting a base layer of paint on each pallet slat

To start, paint each slat of the pallet board a different color. I chose these colors to go along with the halloween “character” I am painting!

paint a face on each slat - the ghost is on the white slat

Next, you will simply paint on the face to the coordinating slat! For the white, I painted on a ghost face. How cute!!!

paint the pumpkin face on the orange slat

For the orange, I of course painted a pumpkin face!

paint the frankenstein face on the green slat

For the green, I painted on a frankenstein face. The mummy was a different story… I started with the slat painted black, but decided to change it to white… let me walk you through the steps!

create your mummy by painting your slat white, then make black swatches

First, I painted on a black swatch, which is where the eyes will go. Then, I painted on black little stripes to mimic gauze!

paint on your eyeballs

Then, I painted the eyes!

Once all the paint was dried on each slat, I sanded the whole sign down with a sanding block!
