supplies needed to make the wooden letter scrabble decor

I hope you’re ready for an easy, CHEAP, and unique DIY today! You can make this as a gift, set it on a shelf, style it into your decor… whatever you do, IT’S WORTH IT!!

what you’ll need…

  • wooden letter
  • scrabble tiles
  • burlap ribbon
  • stain
  • hot glue
stain your wooden letter

Go ahead and stain your letter! I found mine a few years ago from JoAnn Fabrics… I looked online, and couldn’t find the EXACT one… but of course, you can use any wooden letter!!

I used my trusty Kilz Dark Wax to stain it! After it was all applied, I took a paper towel and wiped off the excess.

Here’s what it’s looking like so far! Of course… if you didn’t like the stained look, you could always just use paint!

hot glue your scrabble tiles on

Next up, write out what you want to be spelled with your scrabble tiles, then hot glue them into place! I wanted Riley, obviously… LOL!

I got asked a TON where you can find scrabble tiles to craft with! The ones I’ve been using were actually sent to me by a precious follower… BUT- Hobby lobby has them! You can shop them HERE.

add burlap ribbon to the edges of the letter

Just to jazz it up a bit, I took this frayed burlap ribbon from Hobby Lobby, and lined it along the edge of the whole letter.

Look at how CUTE this turned out y’all!!! It just goes to show how a few small things, and a little bit of time can create a unique little piece of decor!

I am a HUGE fan of mixing in my last name throughout my decor… if you’re like me, then you might like these other DIY’s, too! Click the image to see the tutorial for it!
