I have had the idea for a while now to showcase some of the BEAUTIFUL homes of some of my friends! It’s SUPER fun to show you my home and my decorating style, but I also know that you can find SO MUCH creative inspo by looking at how other people decorate their homes!
When I started thinking about this, I knew RIGHT AWAY that I wanted to feature the home of my friend, Sherrie. She was actually one of the first people I ever met when I moved to Mayfield, and I have just always had a love for her! But not only do I love HER, I looooove her decorating too!
She has a knack for bringing things together across the styles and making them work perfectly in her space. It always looks like a million bucks on a budget. Don’t believe me? Oh you just wait and see!!!
This just feels so warm and welcoming that I want to hop on the couch, wrap up in a throw, and take a nap!
The day we went to snap some pics, I IMMEDIATELY knew that this was going to take more than one blog post (outside areas coming SOON)! Pretty sure we took about a million of them! Sherrie is the BEST decorator, and she does literally EVERYTHING herself! Let me tell you, she’s not out at the big, high-dollar stores buying all this cute stuff (although that IS where she gets much of her inspiration!). Her exact words to us were, “I am CHEAP and I am ALWAYS looking for a bargain!” She loves to find decor at thrift stores, yard sales, and even from Facebook friends! She is 10000% proof that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to decorate like a PRO!
When you first walk through the door into the foyer, you are welcomed into this adorable bench with classic neutral pillows and an eclectic blend of accessories. Peep the cute little rabbit bowl! You will notice a lot of “animals” throughout Sherrie’s house and she told us that is her favorite thing to decorate with these days. She especially loves rabbits because they remind her of her dad, who raised rabbits as long as she could remember!
The next area you see is the front living room. It (as well as all of the walls in her house) is painted the dreamy Alabaster by Sherwin Williams and it is the PERFECT neutral to use as the backdrop for any decor!
Sherrie blends the neutrals with some unique statement pieces of decor and a mixture of metals to create the most adorable looks!
How cool is this swan paired with the dried flowers?!?! Gorgeous!!!
We had A LOT of “favorite” areas in the house, including the kitchen/dining room. The fall plates came from Dollar Tree! We LOVED the brass centerpiece and she told us that she won a generous gift certificate to a local decor store that has AMAZING stuff, but is a little pricey. She knew she wanted to get something substantial and she chose this piece! She had her son pick the cattails that you see and paired them with fall stems for this arrangement. HOW STINKIN’ CUTE IS THAT?!?!?
This cabinet was purchased at one of her favorite stores, Kirklands. She’d been watching it for a while, but was NOT going to pay the high price. She was THRILLED when she went in one day and got it for a MUCH less price since it had a broken glass! She replaced the glass for a few bucks and BOOM, it was good as new!!!! The dried hydrangeas in the bowl on top came from her own landscaping!
Sherrie and her husband, Kip, have been in this house for about thirteen years, after they lost their previous home in a fire. She said it was a TOTAL fixer-upper, but Kip is a ROCKSTAR husband and always supports her in making their home beautiful! He even takes on extra work after his full-time job so that they can continue updating their home! Get you a Kip, just not Sherrie’s Kip!! (P.S. Is she not the cutest??!?!)
This decorative range hood that she wanted ended up being a total kitchen remodel!
Sherrie decorates for EVERY season and her house is just FULL of adorable details like these wreaths on the back of the bar stools!!
Right beside the kitchen/dining room is where she says her family spends much of their time relaxing together. Sherrie’s house is ideal for the upcoming holiday get-togethers, because all the spaces are so open and roomy. The perfect space for her three adult children and four grandchildren!
I hear tons of comments about how built-ins are SO hard to decorate. They can definitely be overwhelming, but Sherrie has some AMAZING inspiration!! You can also check out how I styled my built-ins for fall HERE.
Literally EVERYWHERE you look in Sherrie’s house you see perfect little vignettes!
Y’all, we are serious when we say that we were about to BUST with so many ideas for decorating our own homes! Let us know what inspired YOU in Sherrie’s house! Also, if you loved this, be sure to check out Sherrie’s FAVORITE part of the house, her back porch!
Be sure to pin for later!
