Alright y’all. Prepare to be BLOWN AWAY by this $3 USA sign… yes, you read that right!!! This sign only cost me $3 to make, because everything I needed was from the Dollar Tree. I call that a MAJOR WIN!

First of all, I am so impressed with the quality of this tray. I want to buy up multiple so I can use them for future projects!!!

To begin, take your waverly chalk paint and paint that bad boy! It ended up needing two coats to completely cover.

This part is totally optional, but I love the look of distressing… so I just went for it! I took my FAVORITE Kilz Dark Wax, and LIGHTLY brushed on a TINY TINY bit to create that “vintage” look.

If you prefer the plain white look, you can definitely skip this step!

Next, it’s time to de-construct our USA letter “sign” from Dollar Tree! They were barely stapled on to the burlap- so it’s super easy to rip off!

At this point, you could get crazy and redo the letters and make them look however you want! I decided to keep them in their original form, because I actually liked the way they looked!

Simply just hot glue the letters onto the tray! They fit inside the tray PERFECTLY!

Here’s where the nautical rope came in… I hot glued it on to the edges of the tray, just to add a little pop of somthin’ somthin’- and I’m SO glad I did!

After I had it all hot glued on, I took the LITTLEST amount of wax, and brushed over the rope to deepen it up. Let me be the first to say that I’m IN LOVEEEEE!!!!
