whipping up winter magic: how to make snow cream

We are FINALLY getting a snow day in good ole Western Kentucky and that means EVERYBODY here will be playing out in the snow!!! (If you’d love a trip where you can play in LOTS of snow, check out our trip to Breckenridge, CO! )

Around here, no snow day is complete without a big bowl of SNOW CREAM! It’s SUPER easy to make and it is DEEEELICIOUS!!!! A local business posted this snow cream recipe and we just had to give it a try!!

Here’s what you will need:

  • 8-10 cups snow
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • pinch of salt

First, you just head out with your bowl and spoon and scoop up some snow. Some people will say not to eat the first snow, but who’s got time to wait for the next one?!?!

This snow was a pretty dry one – bad for making a snowman, but good for snow cream!

Next, we measured out the snow in a larger bowl.

After that, sprinkle in the sugar.

Next, we added in the vanilla and milk. Fun fact: did you know that, generally speaking, a cap from the vanilla bottle is nearly always a teaspoon?

Using a spoon or mixing spatula, blend all the ingredients together.

You may want to add more milk to get to the desired consistency!

And that’s it!! How easy was that?!?

You might even want to add some fruit or topping. We had these strawberries on hand, so we sliced up a few and added them to the snow cream. We’ve got one word for that: YUM!!!!

The thing about snow cream is you’d better work fast in prep and eating, because it’s not gonna last long! Such a fun and easy treat for a snowy day! Let us know if you love snow cream like we do!!!

Be sure to pin for later!!!!

We called it snow ice cream but my momma made it when I was a kid and I made it for my kiddos! So yummy but mostly fun! I wonder if my girls will make it for their kids!?!
