Listen. I know how it feels to be intimidated by making something… ESPECIALLY a painting.

I found the neatest little HACK for acrylic painting that literally ANYONE can do. I tried it for the first time on a live video (which you can watch HERE) and I was super impressed with the outcome!!

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • flat canvas (I used an 11×14)
  • your favorite paint colors! I used…
    • Apple Barrel laguna, marsh green, admiral blue, golden sunset, white
    • DecoArt sweet mint
    • Anita’s pastel rose
  • something flat to scrape with

It’s seriously the simplest thing y’all! All you need to do is drop blobs of paint onto the canvas in whatever order you want… but you need to be quick so the paint doesn’t dry!

Looking back, I would have done more lines/”blobs” rather than circles when dropping the paint. You’ll see why at the end!

This part is pretty self explanatory! It’s also pretty nerve racking, because you aren’t sure how it will completely end up… hence my face in these photos ????

Take whatever you have to scrape with (I literally used a flat piece of cardboard) and just SCRAPE! You end up with the neatest piece of art!!!

Now you can tell why I might have done more lines than circles- because my paint didn’t scrape it EXACTLY the way I had hoped… but I still think it turned out super neat!

If you use white acrylic paint mixed with Elmer’s Glue on your canvas first, it spreads better. A wet background helps the paint flow. Love your results. You can also put wet really liquid paint on a canvas and spread it with a hairdryer. Great art, inexpensive.

Very cool. Blobs and lines certainly give a different effect, but your original result is perfectly wonderful.
I see smearing and overpainting in my near future. Thanks for the nice block-breaker.

I love your color combo. It turned out beautifully. I have done this also. Try a shower squeegee to spread your paint. Works great and is washable.

This is the neatest I love paint technique. I tried this a few weeks ago and I came out with stripes. I love it.
