Master Bedroom Renovation

This post has been a long time coming. I have wanted my bedroom to feel complete for a while now {well, since we moved in!} Truth is, nobody ever sees this room except the 4 of us, so it just wasn’t a priority. But, even though I am pretty much the only one to see it {until now}, I still wanted it to feel like a room that was “complete”! I wanted a room that had some personality…a room that I could sit in and feel at home. So, I finally decided to finish it up. I am excited to show you  the results, because in all honesty, I think it reflects my personality more than any of the other rooms in our home.

I also want to preface this reveal, along with EVERY other reveal that I ever show you, by saying that I, in no way, think that my home is superior to anyone else’s or better decorated or nicer or more fabulous in any way. I simply love to share my decorating and design with you all because it is what I love to do. I eat, sleep and breath decorating. Am I the best? NO. I do what I love, and I don’t typically follow all of the “have-to” design elements that “they” {whoever that is} says I need to. I simply decorate and design based on what I like and don’t like. I am liable to throw the most random items together, and if I like it, I keep it! I hope that along my journeys you can find inspiration for your space, and I hope that you realize that every home has flaws and stains and chaos. Mine sure does. Sometimes I edit it out, but sometimes…I go ahead and keep it for you to see. I think it is good to see that at times so that you don’t ever get too caught up in my highlight reel.

Enjoy the transformation of our master bedroom! {p.s. These before pictures were taken long before a blog was ever in place. I would have taken more if I had known I would be doing this!}

BEFORE: very dirty, windows broken and hanging by a thread. Simply put…disgusting room.

Master Bedroom Renovation

I did love the fact that it had double closets!

Now…AFTER! **The color on the walls is Valspar Sea Breath!**

Master Bedroom Renovation

I love this sitting area. These chairs had originally been in my living room, but I like them MUCH better in here!

Master Bedroom Renovation

I liked the look of the 3 vases grouped together to give some height to the space! And how cute was this little bean bag crochet ball?

Master Bedroom Renovation

Looking from our room into the Master Bathroom! This was quite the makeover as well, if you haven’t checked it out yet!

Master Bedroom Renovation

I enjoy all of the color in this room. It really fits my personality so much, because I LOVE colorful decorating. I mixed and matched lots of color and pattern in this space, and while it is all different, I feel like it all flows together nicely for an eclectic look.

I love the 2 pictures on my dresser because they are from each of my pregnancies with my 2 babies. The black and white was when I was pregnant with Eden, and of course the other is with Blaize. Such special memories that I cherish!

Master Bedroom Renovation

So, these peacock canvases…I know they aren’t for everyone, but they are totally for me. I bought them long before I even knew where I would put them because I loved them so much 🙂

Master Bedroom Renovation

Maybe this is weird, but I like to leave some of my necklaces hanging out for all to see, simply because I love the colorfulness of them all together!

Master Bedroom Renovation

This is something that was so incredibly simple, but added a little extra flair. I simply took a frame I had and put fabric behind it. I love doing that!

Master Bedroom Renovation

On the closets, I changed out the knobs for something with a little more personality.

So, what do you think? Do you like the changes? Do you like all of the color? This is finally a space that makes me feel happy! I hope you enjoyed 🙂

Great colors and textures in the room, from elegant to funky, you have it all! You are absolutely right, the chairs work much better in here then they did in the living room!!! What a perfect retreat for you, and the rest of the gang! Warm, inviting and relaxing – exactly what you want in a master bedroom. You are good, girl!!!!!

Love it all – the colours you have chosen, the peacock pictures are beautiful and I can see how you have picked out the colours in your cushions – superb. Love all your black furniture too – did you paint it black? – you have made such a gorgeous, pretty place that anyone would love to be in and chill out in. You are soooo lucky to have such a large bedroom – our bedrooms in Spain are sooo tiny and I just miss ‘space’ – I would love to have your bedroom and you have a beautiful window and seat area – how jealous am I 🙂

Happy to see another lover of my peacock pictures! Thank you for all of the compliments on my room! We actually bought the black furniture 9 years ago. It has been great furniture. Sometimes I wish I had something with more personality, but black is classic…and it works well with the look of this room 🙂

Love it all including your decorating from the heart. Exactly how I decorate. I LOVE the color and have a slight obsession with teal/blue/aqua – any variation of – and with gray as a neutral, perfection -gray is more a happy neutral to me). I recently painted our kitchen and breezeway (from knotty pine). I went with Dior gray for walls, snow white for ceiling and trim (both by Benjamin Moore). For an accent wall, I used barely teal (also Benjamin Moore) which my husband was not loving (but then again, it took 20 years to talk him into painting knotty pine. Husband LOVES it. GREAT job! off look at the rest of your handy work

Thanks so much, Kara! Yes, if you see my house as a whole, there is aqua in every room {at least to some degree}! Sounds like you have a beautiful home!!! I know I would love those colors, for sure!
