As summer is quickly coming to a halt, back to school/teacher projects are back in business around here! In fact, today is my kid’s FIRST DAY back to school…so I thought this was perfect timing for this little cutie!

I spotted this little “create” pencil in the Target Dollar spot last year for just 5 DOLLARS… I knew I HAD to have it and “Brooke it up” a little!

here’s what you’ll need…

*tap on the bolded items to shop my affiliate links!*

  • target dollar spot pencil (you can easily diy your own, but I already had this on hand!)
  • black paint pen
  • white paint pen
  • re-fabbed hot glue gun/hot glue
  • my FAVORITE scissors
  • various ribbons and/or fabrics of choice

First, I grabbed my black paint pen and outlined the top of the pencil and around the edges of the eraser to make it stand out!

I also added little half polka dots to jazz it up a tad!

I picked up my white paint pen and started making polka dots… MY FAVE!

Then I took a little ric rac and added it to the outlined eraser and very tip of my pencil to add some texture!

If you know me at all, you know I HAD to add a re-fabbed bow!

TA-DA!!! Isn’t it amazing what some paint pens, ribbon and a little creativity can do?!?

In my opinion, you just can’t beat a QUICK and easy little makeover like this!

These little changes really took it up a notch, don’t you agree?!?

Don’t forget to PIN this for later! And make sure you are following on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM!
