If you have seen my Fall Mantel Reveal, then you may have seen these ADORABLE metal leaves that I have!

I bought them from a local booth mall, so I know they are not accessible to everyone… SO, I wanted to figure out a way to MAKE some that look similar!!!

Pretty much everyone has a Dollar Tree around them… so you should be able to find these supplies to make your own leaves!!

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • 2 Dollar Tree cookie sheets
  • scissors
  • a pen to trace with
  • paint colors of your choice
  • hot glue
  • twine
dollar tree cookie sheets come in a pack of two- you will need both!

Dollar Tree is just the best y’all. The cookie sheets come in a pack of 2 for $1… so this project is EXTREMELY cheap to make!

trace out your leaf design onto both cookie sheets

This part does NOT have to be perfect… obviously! LOL. Just trace out a leaf type shape onto your cookie sheets, and cut them out!

cut out your tracing

Here’s my very rough cut outs of the leaves! Don’t worry… they will come together by the end of this!

mix together your paint to get your desired color

Now, it’s time to paint! I mixed together a little bit of brown and white paint from apple barrel paints, to make this muted brown color!

  • paint your leaves whatever color you want
  • paint your leaves whatever color you want

It’s already looking soooo much better! I painted the whole leaf with the brown mixture, then added a few spots of dark brown to create some depth.

As for the other leaf, I painted it a very muted green!

For a little extra p’zaaz, I decided to hot glue twine around the whole leaf!

I think this REALLY helped make the leaves look more finished!

punch a hole in the end of the leaf and string through some twine to make a hanger

Last but not least… I hole punched a little hole in the end of the leaf to run more twine through to make a hanger!

Check it outttt!!!! Here they are mixed in with the real metal leaves… how cute do they all look together!!!

Don’t worry about not finding your own leaves for your decor… because now, you can MAKE them for so cheap and EASY!!!
