Dollar General pallet pumpkin

It’s kind of dangerous having a Dollar General 5 minutes from my house. I mean, I’ll run in there for some milk, and come out with all kinds of home decor and crafts… can anyone else relate?!?!

I found this wooden pallet sign on one of my many journeys there, and just had to take it home with me!

Since I have a bad case of the Fall fever… I figured I’d turn this bad boy into a PUMPKIN!!!

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • pallet sign from Dollar General
  • Apple Barrel paints: white, black, khaki
  • sanding block
  • raffia
  • craft wire
  • hot glue gun

I wanted to make our pallet just a little bit brighter… so, I decided to white wash it with our white paint!

Just BARELY paint on your white paint, and do NOT cover the whole sign!

Here’s what it should be looking like so far. But now, we sand!

Doesn’t it look much more smooth!? Never underestimate the power of a sanding block.

It’s polka dot time!!! I wanted to add a bit of fun to this pumpkin… and what’s more fun than polka dots?!?

I mixed these two colors together to make our polka dot color.

Take your spouncer, dip it in the paint, and create some fun polka dots!

You can’t have polkadots without highlighting them! Simply take a skinny paintbrush, and “swoosh” on some little dashes. I know that’s not a very clear instruction of what to do… but maybe the picture will help you see! LOL

I wanted to do something totally different with our stem. I usually go for sticks… but today, I thought I’d switch it up.

I took a LOT of craft wire, and bunched it up like this.

After it was all bunched together, I wrapped it around my finger to make it curly!

Hot glue it to the back of the sign… then, create a little raffia bow, and you’re all set!

My fall decor includes mostly muted tones… so this pumpkin will fit in PERFECT!

I thought the wire stem and raffia really complemented each other!

You could totally paint this ANY color… to match ANY style!!!

If you enjoyed this project, then you’ll REALLY enjoy these down below!
