supplies needed for the rustic pumpkin decor

If you’ve never used a cookie sheet from the Dollar Tree for crafts… now is the time to pick one up and try it out!!

Today, I’m making a PUMPKIN out of a few simple items I had laying around… but not just ANY kind of pumpkin… a RUSTIC pumpkin!

You could make this in so many ways and in so many sizes… but I decided to make mine on a smaller scale, so I could display it on my Fall coffee bar, or a tiered tray!

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • mini embroidery hoop
  • small wooden sign
  • stain
  • cookie sheet from Dollar Tree
  • harvest orange from Apple Barrel Paints
  • sticks
  • hot glue gun
  • moss
supplies needed for the rustic pumpkin decor

Let’s start by staining our wooden pieces!

Both of these came from Walmart for SUPER cheap!

stain your board

Of course I’m using my trusty Kilz Dark Wax to stain them!

trace and cut your dollar tree cookie sheet

After your stain is dry, go ahead and trace out your circle from the Dollar Tree cookie sheet, and cut! This will be our pumpkin!

You have two options here- you can insert the tin inside the embroidery hoop (that’s what I did) OR you could simply hot glue it on to the top of the hoop.

After that’s been done, hot glue your hoop onto the board!

paint your tin orange

Now, paint your tin orange! I used my favorite Harvest Orange by Apple Barrel.

lighten it up with leftover stain

I didn’t want my orange to be TOO bold… so I toned it down with what was left on my brush I stained with!

hot glue sticks on the embroidery hoop

Hot glue your sticks to the top of the pumpkin.

make your raffia bow

Then, make a little raffia bow, and hot glue it right on top of your sticks!

Y’all… it turned out SOOOOO GOOD!!!

I also added a little bit of moss at the bottom for a little extra p’zaaz!!

Isn’t it amazing what you can make with random objects?!?! I mean… who knew you could make a pumpkin from a COOKIE SHEET!

Love the rustic pumpkin. It’s a different take on the pumpkin than most others.

I saw an adorable craft of a Christmas tree that you made with the same aluminum tray that you made this pumpkin with but I can’t find it. Would you mind sending me the link to it. Thank you, Judy By the way i just love everything you make!
