How to Create the Perfect Gallery Wall

Create the perfect gallery wall by using items you already have in your own home! Pull things together and have FUN creating a unique and fun wall that you can change up as often as you want!

I love gallery walls! I believe I have said that in countless posts along the way, but it is true! I love taking random pieces of wall decor and pulling them together for a unified look. It is fun and usually inexpensive…and can add a true wow factor to your space.

I have had a certain little wall space under my stairs that has always given me trouble with decorating. I have had different things in that area along the way and nothing seemed right. Here is a picture of the space when we bought the home: {forgive me for the terrible quality of this picture. I snapped it quickly with my phone. I didn’t have a blog at the time, so I didn’t know I would ever “show” the picture!}

House Renovation Before Picture

Here is a picture of how I had the space before this change:

chalk painted and distressed shoe storage

This wasn’t bad at all, but I have moved this piece of furniture to another room in my home, and this wall was then BARE! To see the post about this “shoe storage”- go here.

I decided it would be the perfect wall for a gallery! My favorite! The great thing about this wall was that I could use mostly all items that I already had- because, well…I tend to keep wall decor in a closet “just in case” I may ever need it!

Some tips on creating your own wall:

Shop your own home for random pieces of wall decor that you could use together on the wall of your choice. Frames, mirrors, crosses, arrows, letters, framed printables, and metal decor are just a few of the fun items you could use. I even used a small grapevine wreath. And, against the better judgement of most people- I just start hanging. I just “eye” everything. I always have when it comes to projects like this. The fun thing about this is that it doesn’t have to be perfect.

Well, my gallery wall is now complete, but I am looking for suggestions on the bottom section of the wall. I want something cool and different, but something that won’t be too crazy, because I want it to go with the rest of my home, and we are actively looking for a farm, so we could end up selling at any given time.

Here we go!

Living Room Gallery Wall

Like I said, I had MOST of this stuff around the house already. The only two things I bought was the white arrow and the galvanized R. All together, they were $12. Not too shabby. {And of course the old man chair had to make an appearance! One of these days….}

What do you think of the blank canvas at the bottom?

What do you think of the gallery wall? Isn’t it fun to pull random pieces together and have a fun feature wall?! If you are interested in doing your own- definitely shop your own home first! You will save SO much money, and you would be amazed at how it can come together in such a fun way!
