how to transform dollar tree ornaments using chinoiserie napkins

If you love the high-end look of Chinoiserie but love the price of Dollar Tree even MORE, this is the project for you! This is such a budget-friendly way to create beautiful, customized ornaments that look like you spent WAY more than just a few bucks!

The process is sooo easy, let me show you how!

here’s what you’ll need…

*tap on the bolded items to shop my affiliate links!*

  • $1.25 ornaments from Dollar Tree
  • chinoiserie napkins from amazon
  • paint brushes (check out my faves!!!)
  • mod podge
  • re-fabbed branded scissors
  • gold spray paint

First, we removed the top of the ornament and spray painted it with this gold spray paint.

Next, we removed the back lining from the napkin so we could start cutting out the florals!

We took a pair of re-fabbed scissors and started cutting out the floral patterns (around 5 small floral cutouts per ornament).

Now it’s time for the magic ingredient here- MOD PODGE! Loooove this stuff.

We simply laid the napkin pieces onto the ornament, but you need to know ahead of time that adhering napkins to a circular piece like this will not be perfect! It is very much WHIMSY and imperfect, which is much more my style anyway!

How gorgeous is this looking?!?!

We couldn’t wait to see this gold up against the blue + white!!! WINNER!

Do you love blue & white chinoiserie?! Be sure to check out our pottery barn dupe and chinoiserie pumpkin decor!

PS- we thrifted this vase for just $2!!! How PERFECT with these ornaments?!????

Did this give you some inspiration to grab your favorite napkins and a few Dollar Tree ornaments? Or even better, makeover some ornaments you ALREADY have!! Let me know!

Don’t forget you can use ANY kind of style napkins to customize these to your own decor!

Be sure to PIN FOR LATER!
