Don’t sleep on Dollar General, y’all! You can EASILY transform decor like this into something that fits your style. Come along with me as I show you how I did just that!

When I spotted this $3 find, I instantly had the idea to use scrapbook paper behind it!

To see the ENTIRE process, be sure to watch my LIVE VIDEO on FACEBOOK!

here’s what you’ll need…

  • dollar general $3 pumpkin decor
  • re-fabbed hot glue gun/hot glue
  • paint brushes (check out my faves!!!)
  • the best scissors!
  • re-fabbed scrapbook paper (currently sold out)
  • apple barrel white paint (I HIGHLY recommend using spray paint to save time!)
  • apple barrel black paint

First, I painted the pumpkins and edges of my sign white!

This process took a good 20 minutes, so like I mentioned above, I would DEFINITELY recommend spray painting your sign to save on time!

Next, I grabbed my scrapbook paper and cut into two vertical strips to fit behind my sign.

It looks very obvious I connected the two pieces here, but trust the process!

To adhere the scrapbook paper on, I simply dabbed some hot glue onto the sides of my sign, and laid the scrapbook paper on top. I apologize I don’t have pictures of this process!

See what I mean… You would NEVER know!

Finally, I painted on some whimsy black stripes around the frame of the sign!

This really made the sign STAND OUT, don’t you think?!?

After this, I went back and touched up some places with more white paint to give it more of a finished look.

AHHH! I am obsessed with how this turned out! I hope this inspires you to see what a generic sign COULD be!

How adorable would this be hanging on a gallery wall or in built in’s???

RUN over to your local Dollar General and pick up this sign, but don’t forget to take my advice and spray paint it!
