how to makeover hobby lobby pumpkin decor

I recently ran into my local Hobby Lobby to check out their 75% off spring sale (click HERE to see what my store had!), and this adorable little pumpkin trio caught my eye! I liked it as is, but I thought it could use some color! It’s safe to say I LOVE IT now!!!

here’s what you’ll need…

*tap on the bolded items to shop my affiliate links!*

  • pumpkin trio from Hobby Lobby (scored for $6.59 on sale!)
  • cute scrapbook paper (mine is from Hobby Lobby)
  • the best scissors!
  • paint brushes (check out my faves!!!)
  • mod podge
  • sanding block
  • folk art metallic pure gold paint
  • cute ribbon of choice
  • pencil/pen (for tracing purposes)

You may notice the pink and white paint in this supplies picture, but I decided not to use those. It never hurts to have options, am I right?!

I picked up this ADORABLE scrapbook paper for only 0.35¢ on sale! I thought this paper would be super cute yet unique for a fall project!

I traced around the biggest pumpkin and cut it out carefully… with my re-fabbed scissors, of course!

I adhered the scrapbook paper to the largest pumpkin using mod podge– a true staple around here!

Next, I sanded the edges well with a sanding block! A quick sand always makes a project look more “finished” in my opinion.

I couldn’t decide if I wanted to remove the burlap or not… but I ultimately decided to cut it off! Don’t worry, I plan to add a little something back on!

I painted on some gold paint onto the textured middle pumpkin using these paint brushes!

I grabbed my ribbon, tied on simple little bow, and trimmed up the ends! This sage green color for fall is everything!!!

I thought about updating the white beaded pumpkin, but I decided to leave it as is, so it didn’t take away from the others!

How stinkin’ cute did this turn out?!?!

I am LOVING this color scheme, especially the pops of gold!!! Will you be giving this one a try?!?! For less than 7 bucks (not including the supplies I had on hand), it’s hard to pass up!

BE SURE TO PIN FOR LATER!
