how to makeover a goodwill canvas with paint

You literally never know what you may find at Goodwill! I just absolutely love the thrill of the hunt! This last trip, I was able to find this super large canvas! If you want to watch my LIVE where I shared my whole haul, go right HERE!

Was it my style? No, but that didn’t matter! I had a plan in mind, and I knew that with a little love, it could be a statement piece in my home.

Let’s walk through what I did!

First, I simply got some of my little .50 acrylic paints from Walmart and started painting!

I simply wanted to paint this exact painting in different colors, pretty much just painting directly over what was already there!

I used fire engine red, cameo pink, jet black and white…along with kelly green, marsh green and key west.

There really aren’t many instructions on this, except I just took my paintbrushes and started pointing right on top of the canvas! It covered VERY well! I was pleasantly surprised!

I started with all the flowers. I went with a red and added some pink details.

I then went over the green stems with my marsh green and highlighted with some Kelly green!

Once I had all of my flowers and stems painted, I decided to add some black in the center.

I then went in on the background and filled it in with some white mixed with a little bit of key west! That part was a little harder because I was trying to not cover up where I painted. I’m not sure if that was the best method, but in the end- it worked.

I did end up going back over some of the areas with more red paint to cover up some of the imperfections of my white paint. It turned out even better than I could have imagined!

I’m no artist, and I certainly don’t paint the very best, but I was excited to share this makeover because I think it turned out SO CUTE, and it looks great on my wall!

Artwork this size can be super costly, and I am proud to have a piece this size that I did myself! I’m having a proud mom moment here with my painting!

Would you think this was a thrift store makeover if you saw it in my house??

Well, what do you think?!? Are you headed to the thrift store to find a canvas to repaint??

If you want to see my GOODWILL HAUL that I did live on Facebook (where I shared this original painting), go RIGHT HERE!

BE SURE TO PIN FOR LATER!
