I am ALWAYS looking for an excuse to use things I already have lying around in my crafting- such as this mason jar ring and scrap pieces of fabric! Let me tell you… this DIY did NOT disappoint! Be sure to stick around to see how it turned out!!

what you’ll need…

  • 9 x 11.5 Floating Plaque from Walmart
  • Modge Podge
  • Wooden Crafting Cubes (I used six in this project)
  • A-Frayed-Knot Paint in the following colors: Re-Fabulous & Cotton
  • Kilz Dark Wax
  • Re-Fabbed Hot Glue Gun
  • Re-Fabbed Scrapbook Paper- Whimsy Workshop
  • Re-Fabbed Scissors (coming back in stock soon!)
  • Re-Fabbed Paint Brushes (coming back in stock soon!)
  • Scrap fabrics of choice
  • Mini wood slice
  • Mason Jar ring

Let’s get started! First, I cut my scrap fabric into about 1 inch sections. Each piece ended up being around 9 inches or so in length, however, I chose to cut my pieces down at the end to fit my sign better!

I simply folded my fabric strip in half and looped it around my mason jar lid. Pull the open end of the fabric through and pull tight around the lid!

Make sure to pull it through tightly so it will stay!

I decided to grab up this pink polka dot fabric to alternate, and I am loving this look! Feel free to use multiple fabrics or keep it simple with just one- the choice is yours!

Here is how she is looking so far! Keep in mind I will be cutting the ends down a bit to fit the size of my sign best!

I chose to stain the outer edges of my plaque with Kilz Dark Wax! You can use any kind of stain, but this is my personal favorite!

Now to paint the base on my sign! I decided to go with a classic white so my fun fabrics would really STAND OUT!

I thought this mini wood slice would make the PERFECT center for my flower, and I was right! It just so happened to fit perfectly inside my mason jar ring. I traced the scrapbook paper over my wood slice and modge podge the whimsy paper from my Re-Fabbed Scrapbook Paper onto the slice.

Feel free to sand down the edges if you need to, and adhere it to your sign using a hot glue gun. If you know me, you know I LOOOVE my Re-Fabbed Hot Glue Gun!

We will be using these wood crafting cubes as our flower stem, so I went with this beautiful Re-Fabulous shade from A-Frayed-Knot Paint! Isn’t this color sooo ME?!

Finally, I adhered the ring and wood crafting cubes to my sign using my Hot Glue Gun, and trimmed the edges a bit to fit my personal taste!

That is ALL folks!

Sitting pretty on my built-ins!!! I just LOVE a piece like this that I can sit out year ’round!

AND in my bedroom! Where do you think this cutie’s new home should be???

Do you have a few mason jars sitting around?! Let me know if you feel inspired to make some of these DIY flowers! There are sooo many possibilities with this one, and I would LOVE to see what you come up with!

Be sure to PIN FOR LATER!
