how to make a ribbon and felt ball flag

I have been ALL IN on Patriotic crafts lately, and I am absolutely here for it!!! This project might take the new record for my quickest EVER (less than 4 minutes), BUT that doesn’t mean I don’t love it just as much! With only a few supplies, I have a feeling this is one you’ll want to try!

To see the ENTIRE process, be sure to watch my LIVE VIDEO on FACEBOOK!

what you’ll need…

*tap on the bolded items to shop my affiliate links!*

  • “White Wood iPad Stand” from Hobby Lobby (I got mine 50% off of $12.99)
  • Felt Balls from Amazon– you will need 9 of the royal blue for this craft
  • Re-Fabbed Branded Scissors
  • Re-Fabbed Hot Glue Gun/Hot Glue
  • Red thick ric rac ribbon from Hobby Lobby

One reason this is such a quick project, is because we aren’t changing the Hobby Lobby stand at all! First, I hot glued on 6 royal blue Felt Balls onto the stand using my Re-Fabbed Hot Glue Gun in 2 horizontal rows of 3 to act as the stars on the flag.

Disclaimer: this is a whimsy version of the American flag, so this painting will not have 13 stripes and 50 stars.

Next, I measured and cut 3 pieces of red ric rac ribbon to fit the stand and look like the stripes of an American flag!

I couldn’t decide if I wanted to add another row of the felt balls, so I asked for feedback on the LIVE VIDEO… ultimately, we decided to add one row of 3 felt balls (9 total), and I am SO glad I did!

I love the way the red ric rac ribbon looks behind the 3rd row of felt balls!

That is seriously ALL, folks! I cannot get over how quick and EASY this project was!

Isn’t she just DARLING on my coffee bar???

Would you have added the 3rd row of felt balls??? Or left as is? Either way, I hope this inspires you to take some supplies you already have lying around and get CREATIVE!
