how to decorate a red and white christmas tree

There is nothing quite like sitting in your quiet house at night with just the subtle glow of the Christmas tree! My living room tree brings me so much joy during the holidays! The traditional reds and whites are warm and cozy, and HOME is where I want to be! Today, I’m going to share my living room Christmas tree with you.

This year, I decorated our main living areas with red and white. There are a few touches of green here and there, but for the most part, it’s ALL red and white, and I LOVE IT! For my trees, I enjoy incorporating multiple styles and elements…everything from ribbons, signs, banners, picks, garlands, and of course, ORNAMENTS! If asked to describe my tree, I would have to say it’s whimsical, yet traditional, with a vintage feel!

I adore these oversized ornaments with a touch of teal and mint green! They have just the right amount of shimmer and glisten when the lights hit them. You know the polka dots make me so happy!

If you are looking to fill a space, signs are PERFECT! I sort of just push the signs back into the tree and let the branches hold them in. This little North Pole cookie sign is a great size!

My Christmas tree this year sort of has a theme of holiday treats! You will find sugar cookies, peppermints and gingerbread men scattered throughout, so why not add a baker?! This precious baker nutcracker man is perched on top of the tree! Isn’t he the cutest?

I just love mixing in all of my red and white ornaments I have accumulated throughout the years. That’s probably the best part of sticking with the traditional red and white colors…no ornaments left behind!

I love using a variety of ribbons on my tree also! Good quality ribbons are a wonderful investment, because they hold their shape so well and truly stand the test of time. Most of my holiday ribbons are purchased from DECORATOR’S WAREHOUSE, and they are beautiful! You will not be disappointed!

These giant peppermints are great for creating dimension and balancing out the other large ornaments! They are so fun and versatile!

My tree just makes me so happy and is a reflection of the joy I feel at Christmas! I hope you have received some inspiration for your Christmas decor! For more design ideas, check out my other living room Christmas styles HERE!

So let’s chat! What is your favorite decoration? When do you usually decorate your Christmas tree? I would love to hear your thoughts!

I hope you enjoyed my tree tour! I know it isn’t for everyone, because it is very over the top- but I sure do LOVE every single part of it!

Be sure to PIN THIS FOR LATER!

I just love the fact that it’s so full and packed full of cuteness. I feel the same about no decorations left behind.

I love the glass Santa with the long hat and the large peppermints. I also cover my tree so barely a branch is visible and with larger pieces as well. I use icicles all over and it brings everything together. I usually wait until the day after thanksgiving to decorate, but I’m going to start earlier this year. Once my Halloween comes down,, Christmas will begin. With all the work involved, I want everyone to enjoy the decor for as long as possible. Love your trees and your decorating style, Brooke. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Your tree is beautiful, I love red and white! My favorite piece is the baker he has the face of a nutcracker but with a bakers hat, love it!!
It does give me the whimsical vintage feel for sure. I can’t wait to get started on my tree. I’ve already started picking out pieces from a variety of stores. I feel looking around and taking your time you’re going to find some amazing pieces.
Thank you for your inspiration not just with decorating but also with God’s words. Bless you Brook for all you do.

I Love everything about your red and white tree. I love putting ribbon on my tree also it helps spiff it up a bit. I also tuck my signs up in the bare spots. I also love it when the signs catch everybody’s eye and they stop to read them. That also gives them the chance to check out the rest of the tree.

Love the theme and especially the baker and the teal and mint ornaments. I usually put my tree up the first of November, but that may change this year because of severe spinal stenosis. It’ll get done somehow. You and your family have a Merry Christmas.

I love the joy the tree brings to life! Everyrhing from the colors, to every decoration on the tree. I even spotted Santa peering through the tree undeneath the milk and cookies sign. It makes me feel like putting on warm pajamas, making hot chocolate and grabbing a Christmas throw and snuggling up in the dark with only the glow of the tree

I love all of the red and white with the little bit of teal added in. We normally just have a traditional green tree with our family keepsake type ornaments. I have a few small tabletop trees that I decorate with more of a theme.

Your tree is gorgeous! I am a traditional person! My favorite is a tree decorated with ornaments we have bought. Some my kids picked out when they were young and some they made growing up at school or church! Things my husband and I have picked out together! Some things family and friends have given us! Some even our grandkids have made! I love Christmas for what it stands for the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ! I can’t decorate like I want to, but I do the best I can! Last year some friends from our Sunday School Class came and decorated some and brought us some food and other stuff! I am excited over Christmas because we get to be with some of our kid’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! With all of that your house and your trees are beautiful!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Brooke, I do totally love your Christmas tree. The part I love most is the drama of it, the total unexpectedness of it, if that makes sense? I am a floral design person, so of course the first thing I noticed were the Christmas picks! I totally love this!!!!

I would say my favorite part would be the signs. But I love it all. I have been watching you for a few years now and you always inspire me. Unfortunately my decorating will be very minimal this year due to moving in with my 95 year old mother n law with dementia to help take care of her. She doesn’t like change. But God knows my heart. Keep inspiring.

My favorite part of your tree is the candy and gingerbread people. I used to decorate with a candy theme including diy pieces if candy I hung on each outside window of my house. Something about candy and Christmas make a childhood memory come alive.
