how to decorate a christmas tree with glass ornaments

I am simply loving my Christmas tree this year. It is pretty much identical to last year, but there are actually MORE ornaments on it. It seemed as though that was impossible, but what I have realized is this…where there is a will- there is a way. AND, I still need more 😀 AND…the top is crooked and needs a topper lol

When I decided I wanted to do a tree with all glass ornaments that had that “nastalgic” feel, I started accumulating all the glass ornaments I could find…and what I found was that it became somewhat of an obsession. I had always stuck to certain “themes” and had whimsy picks and large ornaments…so this was something completely different.

The joy of seeing all of these colorful ornaments come together, both old and new, brought lots of feelings that my other trees haven’t. This tree somewhat felt like “home”. Why? I am not sure. My home never had these ornaments, but nevertheless, it truly feels like home to me.

You know I am very much CRAZY about color, so this tree brings every color under the rainbow to life!

Some of these ornaments are truly vintage, and some are new Shiny Brites that are just made to look old, and some are even just random ball ornaments that may not even be “glass”!  I found them all over the place, from Whatnot to TJ Maxx to Walmart to thrift stores and everywhere in between. The mixture of styles and colors all came together to create the perfect glass filled tree.

The key to getting the fullest look was to mix small and large and medium sized ornaments all over…from deep inside the tree to the outermost branches. This is also a “sparse” tree- so it leaves more room for the ornaments to really show up. I believe that truly helps with these types of ornaments. I think they would get lost in a more full tree.

I put wayyyyy too many pictures in this blog post, but I just couldn’t help myself. It was almost impossible to stop taking pictures because they are all so beautiful!

I will be honest, while I LOVE it during the daytime…the nighttime is pure magic! I will have to share pictures from that time soon too!

I took this picture laying on the ground looking up at the tree!

I hope you feel inspired by this tree! Sure it isn’t as “over the top” as many I have done in the past (which you can see HERE), but it is full of beauty and nastalgia in its own way, and I think it may perhaps be my very favorite!

Be sure to PIN THIS FOR LATER!
