Fall Decorating with Corn

Lately, I have been VERY busy at my “real” job. Trust me, this is certainly a REAL job too, but I mean my 7:00-4:30 job that I go to daily. I have not gotten to do hardly any blog work, and I was getting a little frustrated. After scrolling through Instagram and looking at all of the fabulous bloggers and their recent posts, I realized that people don’t always want to see a long post with gobs of information. Sometimes, they just want some inspiration for their home…some quick and easy decorating info that may only be 1 or 2 pictures and a small write up. I will be honest, I personally love that. Why have I not been doing more of it? I will tell you why. I have only been at this gig for a little less than 5 months, and I am still learning! I am still trying to find my sweet spot and what my readers truly want, so it is all a learning process!

So, from now on…I want to start incorporating some simple and quick posts just showing what kind of neat little decorating ideas I have had, along with my more lengthy, detailed posts. Maybe they will inspire you and encourage you in your decorating endeavors! I hope they will.

If you have read any of my fall posts, you know by now that I am not a big time fall decorator. Sure, I think it is beautiful…and I am really enjoying the decorating that I have done, but it’s still not totally my thing. I am definitely getting there though! One thing that has been “my thing” here lately is my newly found love for corn decorating. Corn decorating you might ask? Well, yes! It is awesome, and it is a very simple and inexpensive way to add a fall feel to existing decor without going over the top. AND, it is reusable from year to year…which is even better. {The bags of popcorn  kernels are only $2.00 at Walmart in the chip aisle.}

I simply took mason jars that I had on hand and filled them half full and started decorating! This little vignette sits on my dining room table. I bought the awesome tray from my friend Shara with Chasing a Dream, and I had everything else on hand around my home. I just pulled it all together, and voila…a fall centerpiece!

What do you think? It is certainly not “overly” fall, but I think it does the trick. It gives me that cozy feeling, and to me, that has fall written all over it 🙂

    A good reminder that blog posts don’t always have to be elaborate!
