christmas card gift tags

Today, I am going to show you how to recycle Christmas cards to create gift tags! Every year, I receive so many pretty Christmas cards, varying from very elegant cards to sweet, fun cards. I hate to just toss them after the Christmas season, so this year I decided to show you how to use a few to use as gift tags!

To start, I gathered the following supplies:
Several Christmas cards
Ribbon and Twine of your choice
Hole punch
Scissors
*I also have a corner round punch from my scrapbooking days that I decided to use!

Some of the cards were so beautiful that I just decided to cut the front of the card and use the entire image. I simply punched a hole at the top and strung some ribbon through. How precious is this nativity card?!

Simply string some glitter ribbon through the card and attach it to a gift. Using a card like this on a large gift is perfect and helps the tag to not get lost on the package!

This next card had a little 3D snowman on the front. You know the bright colors and whimsical design really caught my eye! I decided to cut out the snowman for one tag, but I was also able to cut two other tags from the remaining background. The tan and white twine was the perfect little addition to the tag!

This white card had a beautiful reindeer embossed on the front. I cut out the emblem to create a nice round gift tag.

With such a wide variety of cards, it’s easy to create a tag to complement any gift wrapping! I love how it allows you to customize gift wrapping to match the personality of the receiver. This is a very easy and inexpensive way to create your own unique gift tags!

Hope you feel inspired to make some of your own gift tags this year! Maybe it also inspired you to use those Christmas cards in another way! Let me know if so! I love to hear new ideas!

Pin this idea for later!

I sometimes take a card from someone special to me an make a recipe card out
Of the card. I cut the back of the card off & write the recipe on the back of the front of the card
Then glue the name and date from the sender, under the recipe !
